Providence ART WALK

Providence, Rhode Island has a certain something about it. A smaller city than Boston, Yes… but it also has a air of mystery and grit that makes the approximate hour long journey, by car or by train, an easy enticement. I aways think of Providence as a feisty sibling who is always doing something interesting and never afraid to march to the beat of their own drum.

As a result the art in Providence feels incredibly special.  It invites you to explore the vision of a city open to and invested in embracing its creative community as a major part of the social and economic landscape.  The art feels progressive, diverse and challenging with pieces installed that reflect on cultural and demographic shifts, economic history and a legacy of immigration all of which create new layers of engagement through interaction and a diversity of vision.  With organizations such as AS220 and The Avenue Concept championing the arts and supporting the creative community its hard to imagine the Public Art in Providence would be anything less than amazing.

This art walk is an easy 2 mile loop around downtown Providence.  It includes; murals, installations, architecture and ground murals.  There is more art than is included in this art walk, and I encourage you to keep your eyes peeled as you explore.

This is a historic city that is also a busy metropolitan area. Please travel safely and respect the neighborhood, the art, the artists and all the people who live and work there.

Have a safe visit and Happy Art Walking!
